Connecticut Busted Mugshots is a private reference service, not a government office. We cannot confirm who is in custody, remove or provide an official booking photo, post bond, or retrieve a government record. For current status, a photo, or a case file, contact the agency or court that holds it.
Where to Request Connecticut Records
Connecticut has no operating county sheriff or county jail that keeps a statewide booking roster. The right office depends on who created or holds the record. For an arrest report or intake photo, start with the municipal police department or Connecticut State Police that made the arrest. The County Directory routes by geographic county and city to local record information, but it is not a list of county jails.
Use the record type to choose the next official source. A current state custody question belongs with CT DOC; a case outcome belongs with the Judicial Branch or the court clerk. Statewide criminal-history records use a separate DESPP route. Archives and federal custody have their own limits and search systems.
- Local arrest report or booking photo: ask the municipal police department or Connecticut State Police that made the arrest. Connecticut State Police posts selected official press releases, but those releases are not a complete arrest log or a substitute for a records request.
- Current state custody or a DOC-held photo: use the CT DOC Inmate Information page and its official offender search. For a DOC record or photo not shown there, submit a focused request through the DOC FOI portal.
- Case status, charges, or disposition: search the Connecticut Judicial Branch criminal case lookup. For a certified or fuller court record, contact the clerk for the court named in the case.
- Statewide criminal-history record: use the DESPP State Police Bureau of Identification route, which is separate from a local arrest file or court docket.
- Historical state holdings: search the State Archives collections and finding aids, then check its individual-name indexes. An index does not prove that a photo survives or can be copied.
- Federal or immigration custody: use the BOP Inmate Locator or the ICE Online Detainee Locator. These are separate custody searches, not Connecticut arrest or court records.
A useful request names the person, agency, date range, incident or docket number if known, and the exact record sought. Ask for any reasonably separable material and the legal basis for a withholding. Research found no single statewide contact for every municipal police record, and there is no county-sheriff contact in Connecticut. This service cannot promise that a mugshot exists, is public, or will be returned.
